speech dispatcher not connecting to alsa

Hello Halim and list,
Thanks for your reply. The .asoundrc file is necessary, because
without it the viavoice synth overlaps itself when speaking.
I tried removing it and reinstalling speech-dispatcher. The result
was the same as when the .asoundrc file is present. Espeak.log below:
